Double and triple crème bries are deliciously thick and creamy cheeses, but where do they get that ooey, gooey goodness? The answer is in the crème! Here are a few of our favorite pairings to further tempt your palate.
Double and triple crème bries are deliciously thick and creamy cheeses, but where do they get that ooey, gooey goodness? The answer is in the crème! Both double and triple crèmes have extra cream added before the curd is formed. A double crème has 60-75% butterfat while a triple crème has at least 75% butterfat. Both cheeses also have a high moisture content seen in their thick, creamy textures.
Due to their ultra creaminess, double and triple crème bries are classically paired with sparkling wine. The thick, buttery cheese coats your mouth while the effervescent bubbles and acidity of the wine cut through the fat and lighten the pairing. Double crèmes go well with more new world, fruity sparkling wines, while triple crèmes tend to pair better with old world, toasty and minerally sparkling wines.
Majorly mouthwatering, right? Here are a few of our favorite pairings to further tempt your palate:
Feuillatte Champagne & Domaine Du Village French Triple Crème
The rich, decadent, buttery flavor and thick, cheesecake-like texture of this French triple crème is a beautiful match for the yeasty flavors of champagne.
Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut Rose & Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam Triple Crème
This award-winning, local cheese has a clean, milky flavor that is highlighted by the fruity notes in this sparkling rose—think strawberries and cream!
Segura Viudas Cava & Brie de Nangis French Double Crème
This traditional French double crème has slightly earthier flavors that are a nice match for the apple flavors and slight yeastiness in the cava.
La Marca Prosecco & Fromager d’Affinois French Double Crème
Fromage D’affinois has a light, almost whipped texture that melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the slight sweetness of this prosecco.
