Sour Beer: Intentionally sour, made with wild yeast, often tempered with fruit, tart taste.
Barrel-Aged Beer: Darker, more alcoholic beer, takes on flavors of the wood or alcohol previously in barrel.
American Pale Ale: Golden to light copper, subtle character with lighter body, hop and malt character.
India Pale Ale: Deep gold to amber color, highly hopped with floral aromas and bitterness on the finish.
West Coast IPA: Powerful hop aromas, notes of citrus and tropical fruit, understated malt, dry finish.
Red Ale: Amber to deep red color, often malt-focused, generally balanced brew, 4-7% ABV.
Amber Ale: Light copper to light brown color, light to medium body, high malt character.
Porter: Deep red to black color, medium-full body, roasted malt character and smoky flavors.
Stout: Strong, dark brew, strong roasted malt flavors, pronounced bitterness, 4.5-7.5% ABV.
Lager: Light to medium body and hops, clean, crisp malt character, 3.5-5% ABV.
Pilsner: Medium to full body, floral aromas, rounded mouthfeel, crisp, bitter finish, about 5% ABV.
Belgian: Distinctive flavor from Belgian yeast, fruity and spicy aromas, malt-focused.
Wheat Beer: Medium to full body, light hops, protein haze from adding wheat to the mash, 5-5.5% ABV.
