Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon: When Nicky Hahn purchased the Smith & Hook Ranch in the Santa Lucia Highlands outside of Monterey in 1979, it was a cattle, sheep and horse ranch. Vines were planted in 1980 and the rest is history. While the area is more famous for pinot noir and chardonnay, this cabernet sauvignon more than holds its own. This well-structured wine has bright plum, boysenberry and cherry fruit flavors, and the touch of vanilla cream from the oak aging rounds out the smooth finish.
La Piuma Pecorino: This wine from the Marches region of Italy is made with an ancient grape varietal called Pecorino. Almost extinct at one time, the varietal is now gaining in popularity thanks to its rich aromatic character of yellow apples, ginger and bitter almond skin. This light, refreshing white wine is a great match for Asian cuisine, mild seafood and fresh garden salads.
The Four Graces Pinot Gris: Made from vineyards that are biodynamically farmed in the Dundee Hills region of the Willamette Valley in Oregon, the 2015 pinot gris was ranked 91 points by Wine Enthusiast. Balanced, elegant, rich and complex, this wine features orange blossom aromas and flavors of lychee, grapefruit and Meyer lemon.
Le Grand Courtâge Sparkling Rosé: The name of this wine translates to “The Great Courtship,” referring to the relationship food and wine have in many cultures. This soft and versatile bubbly has delicate strawberry and raspberry flavors with aromas of lilacs and violets. The courtship between the sweetness and the acidity in the wine makes it an easy quaffer on its own or with light appetizers.
