There’s nothing like fresh, seasonal produce at the peak of ripeness. While some fruits and veggies are available for months on end, others have a much narrower window of opportunity. Make sure to get these sweet summer gems before it’s too late!

Serres Blueberries
When: 3-4 weeks mid-June to early July
Where: Mendocino County
What: Plump, large and super sweet, these are the best blueberries around.
How: Savor the flavor by buying in bulk and freezing some for later!
Red Bing Cherries
When: June through July
Where: Washington State
What: Large, firm, sweet and juicy fruits with a deep red color.
How: Soup up your sundae with a fresh and fabulous cherry on top!
Stone Fruit
When: June through August
Where: Wild River Farm, Marysville (organic pluots!)
What: Apricots and nectarines will lead the stone fruit season, followed by other varieties like pluots, plums and peaches.
How: As well as eating out of hand, these fruits sweeten all sorts of summer salads and desserts!
Figs
When: June through August
Where: Several California farms, some local!
What: Black Figs have purple and black skin and a deep, earthy flavor. Brown Figs have light purple to black skin with robust flavor. Kadota Figs have creamy amber skin with a light flavor. Candy Striped Figs have green and yellow stripes and come from Capay Valley.
How: Try them plain, in a salad or as part of an elegant canapé.
Watermelon
When: Peaks in July
Where: Vierra Farms, West Sacramento
What: Sweet, local seedless watermelons.
How: Slice into wedges for a sweet summer barbecue side!
Cotton Candy Grapes
When: 2 weeks mid-August
Where: California
What: These sweet treats taste exactly like their namesake!
How: This all-natural grape is non-GMO and sustainably grown.
Keitt Mangos
When: August
Where: Near San Diego, California
What: Large, mostly green mango with super creamy mouthfeel and wonderful flavor.
How: Slice the sides off either side of the seed, then crosshatch fruit, turn inside out, cut off cubes and enjoy!
