Gérard Bertrand Perles de Sauvignon Blanc: From vineyards that overlook the Mediterranean Ocean in the south of France, the grapes used in this wine ripen fully in the long sunny days, while the cool ocean breezes translate into attractive citrus notes and acidity in the wine. Enjoy with goat cheese or fresh oysters.
Four Virtues Bourbon Barrel Aged Zinfandel: Wines aged in bourbon barrels have become one of the latest styles to hit the market in the last year or two, and this is one of the best we’ve tried so far. The caramel and vanilla notes from the barrel integrate nicely with the dark red berry fruits of the wine.
Domaine de Bernier Chardonnay: We love this unoaked version of chardonnay from the Loire River Valley for its fun vibrant personality. It is light-bodied, but not light in flavor, both crisp and elegant with a steely edge from the chalky soil it grows in. If you like Chablis, be sure to give this one a try.
Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico Reserve: Sitting high atop one of the famous hills in the Chianti region, this is one of our absolute favorites from the area. Made with organically grown Sangiovese grapes, this is a textbook terrific Chianti. Dark cherry, leather, violets and a subtle hint of rose petal make it great for enjoying with a meal.
