Along with making our loaves delicious, that also makes it all the more important to store them correctly (in case you don’t finish it all at once). By the Slice: Store your loaf cut-side down on your cutting board, slicing additional slices as needed. By leaving it cut-side down, you're protecting the vulnerable insides from getting dried out, while the crust maintains its integrity. It should be fine for several days like this.
Sustainable Storage: For an eco-friendly way to store your bread, try using Ovtene! These 100% recyclable food storage sheets and bags are made mostly from calcium carbonate to mimic the protective powers of an eggshell while reducing plastic usage by 60%. You can find them in the Bakery at most of our stores!
Bread Blunders: Avoid these floury faux pas to keep your bread as fresh as possible as long as possible.
- Don't store it in a plastic bag.
- Don't store it in the refrigerator.
- Don't let it sit out without the cut-side down.
Freeze! If you'd like to make your loaf last for weeks or even months, first cut it into slices, then wrap the whole thing in plastic and put it in a freezer. This way it can be enjoyed one slice at a time over several months.
