With the help of our extraordinary green leadership team, including our store-level green gurus! Let us introduce you to a few of them:

Jee V., Green Guru, Nugget Markets, Sacramento, Florin: Jee has been with Nugget Markets for nearly seven years and feels like he’s just getting started! Jee has been on fire as a person in charge (PIC) as well as a wonderful green guru. His team is all in when it comes to sustainability, doing whatever they can to help him take their store to the next level. For him, there isn’t any greater satisfaction than seeing every associate buying into the program. You can stop and talk to any associate in the store and ask them about sustainability; not only will they tell you how much they appreciate Jee, but they’ll also happily talk about sustainability in their department. Jee is everywhere in the store and never seems to tire—always ready for the next task. We’re so lucky to have Jee on our team!

Josh G., Green Guru, Nugget Markets, Roseville: Josh has been part of the Nugget Markets family for four amazing years. He worked in the front end and produce before his promotion to PIC. His team has come to rely on his calm presence at the checkstand and his commitment to supporting them 100%. When he’s not working, you can find Josh bicycling, playing basketball and watching or otherwise engaging in any and all sports. Josh goes the distance as a green guru and will do whatever it takes to see his store be its sustainable best! As a green guru, he’s enjoyed learning more in depth how we incorporate sustainability into our business and the positive effects we can have on our environment. One of his favorite moments of the year was when his store volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society of Roseville, one of our local food banks. He and his team loved the opportunity to interact with the staff and see how the food we donate impacts the lives of our community members.

Lisa R., Green Guru, Fork Lift by Nugget Markets: Lisa joined the Nugget Markets family nearly six years ago as a part of our wonderfully punny Fork Lift team! If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out Fork Lift by Nugget Markets, we invite you to stop by for some delicious food and excellent puns the next time you’re on your way to Tahoe. You’ll find Lisa hanging tags as a part of our point of sales (POS) team, checking groceries in the front end, putting the finishing touches on a cake in the bakery or making sure finances are in order as one of our bookkeepers—a true Jill of all trades! Fun fact: Lisa has Hallmark’s complete collection of Star Trek ornaments dating back to 1991! As a green guru, Lisa appreciates the opportunity to interact with everyone in the store. Her favorite moment this year was when she worked the sustainability table at Foodie Fest and had a loyal guest proudly show off the sustainability knowledge she had learned!

Becca B., Green Guru, Food 4 Less, Woodland: Becca has been serving our guests as a part of our front end team for six awesome years! She began her career with Nugget Markets at our Davis, Mace Blvd. location but made Food 4 Less, Woodland her home in 2018. If you haven’t had the chance to stop by our Food 4 Less in Woodland, be sure to check it out and experience the love! Becca worked her way from checker to PIC and has become an invaluable asset to her team. Before joining the Nugget Markets family, she worked as a full-time babysitter (now we know why she takes such good care of us)! When she’s not working, she enjoys playing video games and watching the next sequel of Star Wars—she just can’t get enough of baby Yoda. As a green guru, Becca’s dedication and passion are evident. She says the best reward for her hard work is seeing associates reevaluate their practices to become greener both in their departments at work and with their personal practices at home.
