Why are leis traditional for graduation? In Polynesian cultures, leis are often presented to a person on their arrival or departure, similar to how the word, “Aloha!” can be used both when coming and going. Since graduation encompasses both leaving school and embarking on a new and exciting chapter of life, leis are the perfect way to celebrate!
How do I care for a lei? Keep your lei looking its freshest as long as possible with these simple steps!
- Store in its box in the refrigerator when not in use.
- Mist occasionally with water to keep it from drying out.
- When done with the fresh lei, you can hang it out to dry then keep it indefinitely!
What are leis made of? While leis are traditionally made with fresh flowers like orchids, carnations or plumeria (ours are made of stunning purple Dendrobium orchids!), you can also make your own with items like paper, candy or money!
Don’t forget, if you want a traditional purple orchid lei to celebrate the grad in your life, be sure to place your order with our floral department at least 10 days in advance. Congrats to the class of 2022!
