We're partnering with the Davis Farm to School in support of various school garden programs in the Davis community. This year, we're proud to announce our support of local school gardens and garden-based learning programs by providing a matching $250 grant to five qualifying Davis schools. The Nugget Markets School Garden Grants are awarded to the grant applicants that demonstrated new, innovative and creative educational experiences through the garden program, provided a wide range of hands-on muti-grade learning activities involving many subjects and classes, and presented a unique and clear vision for the garden’s future and plans for sustainability.

The Nugget Markets School Garden Grant recipients for the 2012-2013 school year are Emerson/DaVinci Jr. High, North Davis Elementary, Birch Lane Elementary, Marguerite Montgomery Elementary, and Korematsu Elementary.

Each year, Davis Farm to School (DF2S) offers application opportunities for school-garden grants to all Davis Joint Unified School district schools. Nugget Markets has committed to a continuing matching grant effort, joining with DF2S, PTA/O’s, parents, and other contributors to support and enrich local students through garden-based learning.
