When we think of wines from Portugal, the great sweet Port wines come to mind first. However these days, more of the wines from Portugal's Douro Valley are being made in a dry table wine style. The quality of these wines has been consistently excellent at all price levels. Try the Altano Red for a great bargain wine at just $7.99, or the 2009 Chryseia (one of the best wines I've tasted this year) from Prats & Symington.- Mike Taylor, Wine Steward at Davis, Covell Blvd.
