This might just be the coolest new product in our wine department! Stack Wines were created by three wine enthusiasts who met while working on their MBAs at UC Irvine. They consist of four individually packaged, 187 ml, plastic stemless glasses, which they call Vinoware. These special glasses snap together, with a total volume that is equal to the traditional 750 ml bottle of wine. Individually sealed with foil, much like yogurt, the glasses are reusable, recyclable, and BPA free. Further, the cases are one–third the weight of a traditional 12–glass–bottle case, and the total carbon footprint is half that of a regular case. I suppose I should mention that this wine is tasty, too! The available varietals are (available in mid–March) Chardonnay,Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and a slightly sweet red blendcalled Charisma. So now you can enjoy quality wine anywhere that glass would normally be a problem—no more hassles with corkscrews or stemware.
