Founded recently in 2015, Stuyt Dairy Farmstead Cheese Company is carrying on a tradition more than four generations in the making. Co-owners Ansally and Rick both come from dairy-farming families (hers from California, his from the Netherlands), and now their kids are in on the action as well, with daughters Michelle and Anastasia running their new cheese-making venture.

It took just over 80 years, but Sacramento finally has its own local maker of fine spirits. Gold River Distillery, founded by CEO Greg Baughman, is the first distiller to open in the capital city since the end of prohibition. Greg even crafted his own still as well as the unique and tasty spirits that come from it.
