More than a diet craze, gluten–free eating is mainstream among those looking to improve their health. The protein in wheat, called gluten, can wreak havoc for people suffering from celiac disease, a serious and debilitating inflammatory condition of the intestines. While very few people have true celiac disease (less than one percent of the population), more may suffer from less severe intestinal troubles such as gas and bloating that may possibly be triggered by gluten.
Instead of cupcakes at your next party, how about diving right into the latest trend in baked goods: cake pops! These scrumptious little treats are simple to make with Nordicware’s Cake Pops Baking Pan, which allows you to add your own creative stamp to these tiny cakes–on–a–stick.
Spring has definitely sprung, and we’re well on our way to summer—and if that means one thing for our Coffee & Juice Bars, it’s that some of the best produce is now in season and waiting to be turned into delicious, healthful juices!
Ah, the ever so tiny and tempting dried kiwi fruit. We’re happy to introduce this bite–sized morsel as one of the newest additions to our bulk foods department. These dried kiwis are pealed, sliced, dehydrated and then given a small amount of sugar to offset their natural sourness—in other words, enjoy this tantalizing fruit without all the labor that usually goes into its preparation!
For our guests who are gluten intolerant or who prefer to consume a gluten–free diet, Bard’s Gold American Lager provides an excellent gluten–free beer option. Brewed in Missouri, this refreshing and flavorful beer contains no wheat, barley, rye or oats, and we love that it boasts fuller flavor and richer aromas than other gluten–free beers.
As summer approaches, nothing sounds better to me than cooking up a homemade, well–seasoned burger on my backyard grill. In our meat departments, we use our Fresh to Market signature seasonings, hand mixed with our 85 percent lean ground beef, to create delicious, hand–shaped burgers. Our most popular flavor is our Garlic and Pepper Seasoned Burger, a tasty patty that is gluten free and packed with flavor in every bite.
Kick your taco night up a notch with one of our favorite products from our tortilla section: Mi Abuelita Bonita Nopal Corn Tortillas. Nopal (also known as the “prickly pear,” or, more commonly, cactus) is a truly underrated vegetable—it’s high in both fiber and calcium, yet low in cholesterol, and it adds great flavor to these corn tortillas!
If your dad likes to grill, may we suggest an aptly named Father’s Day gift? Specifically, Amazing Dad’s BBQ Sauce. All three flavors of this hearty sauce are naturally sweetened with organic honey, and they are also gluten free.
