The sweet trio of pineapple, passion fruit and Velvet Falernum temper the bourbon-rum combo to create a tantalizing cocktail that will please any crowd. Swap out the booze for mai tai mix and grenadine for a tropical tiki mocktail.
Ingredients
Cocktail:
- 1 ounce aged rum
- 1 ounce bourbon
- ½ ounce Velvet Falernum
- 2½ ounces pineapple juice
- 1 ounce fresh passion fruit juice
- Juice of ½ lime
- Pineapple wedge, for garnish
- Luxardo cherry, for garnish
Mocktail:
- 5 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces passion fruit juice
- 1 ounce Trader Vic's Mai Tai Mix
- ½ ounce premium grenadine
- Pineapple wedge, for garnish
- Luxardo cherry, for garnish
Preparation
For cocktail, combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake for about 10 seconds. Strain contents into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with pineapple and a cherry.
For mocktail, combine fruit juices and mai tai mix in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake for about 10 seconds. Strain contents into a tall glass filled with ice. Float grenadine and garnish with pineapple slice and a cherry.
To make fresh passion fruit juice, simply halve passion fruit and scoop contents into a fine mesh wire strainer to separate liquid from the seeds.
